The Overview
An international insurance company leveraged Asset Point’s software to implement a Data Centre Infrastructure Management (DCIM) system to support their newly constructed Data Centre. Asset Point was implemented to become a repository for the technology and user information within their facilities. Asset Point was used to perform a complete inventory of the new Data Centre, develop cabinet elevation diagrams and create and maintain the patching schedules.
The Results
During the initial phase Asset Point allowed the company the ability to review their current Move, Add and Change (MAC) process, and provided process recommendations to be implemented for the new Data Centre. This review included the initial receipt of equipment, asset tagging, installation planning and day-two asset management (including the MAC process). Training plans and documentation were developed for their operational groups. The Asset Point Graphics link was used to automatically generate approximately 300 cabinet elevation diagrams. Today the Asset Point solution supports all of their critical facilities around the world.
