Welcome to the third part of our Copilot series! After exploring the latest PowerPoint updates, we're now turning our attention to the new Word capabilities that are assisting in document creation. These features address the most common pain points in drafting and editing, helping you move from concept to polished content with speed and ease.

Word's latest Copilot update allows you to enrich your drafts by seamlessly attaching rich content from across the Microsoft Cloud. Need to create a document that references an email thread, incorporates details from a recent meeting, and follows the structure of an existing file? Simply ask Copilot to "Write a document based on /[email]. Include relevant information from /[meeting] and structure it based on /[file name]."
To use this feature, paste the prompt into Copilot in Word. Delete each "/[xxx]" and then type "/" to show the context menu where you can select an email, meeting, or file before executing the prompt. This contextual awareness means your drafts incorporate relevant information from day one, reducing the need to switch between applications.
Word now offers ready-made prompts to help you start writing right away, whether you're working from a blank page or trying to structure your thoughts quickly. These contextually relevant suggestions appear directly in your interface, providing inspiration for drafting proposals, reports, emails, etc.
The ability to reference content has expanded to include plain text files, giving you more flexibility in how you integrate information.
Expanded sources: Plain text files in .txt format can now be referenced in Draft with Copilot, making it easier to integrate content seamlessly.
Quick reference: Easily find your plain text file in Draft with Copilot by entering "/" followed by the name of the file you want to reference.
This enhancement helps you incorporate information from a wider range of sources, particularly useful when working with legacy documents or text exports from other systems.
Copilot can now reference blocks of content up to 75,000 words, giving you more data to pull when you need it. This expanded capability means Copilot can analyze and synthesize information from even your most complex and comprehensive documents.
For organizations handling confidential data, Word now automatically adjusts document confidentiality levels when referencing secure files. This ensures that sensitive information maintains appropriate protection levels. The system intelligently recognizes when you're incorporating protected content and applies the necessary confidentiality labels automatically.
Search for important information without leaving Word: Ask Copilot a question in Word chat and Copilot will answer using integrated Bing search. This seamless integration means you can research facts, verify information, or explore related topics without disrupting your writing flow.
