Align provided expertise to enhance data migration efforts in North America.

After a global financial institution performed their data center migration efforts in EMEA and APAC, they partnered with Align to redesign their processes and procedures to prepare for a larger scale effort in North America. This project ultimately sought to consolidate over 20 data centers down to just 4. This client requested Align’s expertise to develop a program to migrate thousands of critical applications and  workloads.

Our Solution

Align worked side by side with the client to develop project governance and technical solutions. Objectives included the development of a migration program framework; performing a gap analysis of inventory, discovery and repository tools; application mapping guidance; reviewing data visualization and analysis; and providing guidance and knowledge transfer of best practices gleaned from project experience.

Align developed process flows to support all phases of the migration program, as well as  a current state data mapping to identify key data points required to develop a migration plan. Additionally Align provided requirements documentation for a strategic migration tool to support data collection, storage and reporting, a high level architecture diagram for the strategic migration tool, dashboard prototypes to be used for data capture and reporting purposes and a migration runbook.

The Result

With the help of Align’s guidance, this client was able to develop a framework and plan in order to successfully complete the migration project.
