Cyber Advisory Issued Amid Rising Geopolitical Tensions

Written by Align | 2025

In light of the recent geopolitical developments, including the Iranian strike and subsequent tensions in the region, we are issuing a formal cybersecurity advisory to all clients.

The FBI and the Cybersecurity & Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA) have warned that state-sponsored cyber actors affiliated with Iran have a history of leveraging geopolitical events to launch retaliatory cyber operations, including ransomware, destructive malware, and spear-phishing campaigns targeting critical infrastructure and private organizations across the United States.

Homeland Security has issued an advisory titled: National Terrorism Advisory System Bulletin

Recommended Client Actions

  1. Stay Alert for Suspicious Emails – Avoid clicking links or opening attachments from unknown or unexpected sources.
  2. Do not bypass Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) – Especially for email (work or personal), remote access, and privileged accounts.
  3. Monitor for Unusual Activity – Watch for failed login attempts, unauthorized VPN access, or large outbound data transfers.
  4. Engage Your Incident Response Plan – If you don’t have one, we can assist you in establishing a framework.
