The Asset Point® enterprise solution is equipped to handle today's most demanding corporate challenges. Asset Point is distinguished by its three core features:

  • A powerful database architecture
  • Multidisciplinary components, that address the needs of every corporate department.
  • Scalability -- you determine the integration of the tool within your company. We call this advantage Smart-Scaled Deployment.

Audit

The Audit Component of the Asset Point system places powerful architecture in your hands to ensure accurate records and system security. An audit trail is kept on all tables, which can be reported on via Crystal Reports and one standard report.

Bar Scanning

Align Communications' proprietary bar scanning software comes pre-loaded onto the Symbol SPT series of Palm Computer that is included in the Asset Point package. Using the power of the bar scanning software, you are ready on day one to use the Palm Computer for data loading and inventory verification. (See Data Loading).

Data Loading

Asset Point provides three methods for loading asset data into the database:

1. You can import asset data into Asset Point from the SPT series of Palm Computer. Equipment types can be downloaded into the Palm Computer for easy assignment to individual pieces of equipment. This process is the same whether you use the Palm Computer for data collection or verification/auditing.
2. You can import existing files into Asset Point from Excel spreadsheets, CSV files or ASCII files.
3. You can enter new records on an individual basis in the Data Navigation window.

The versatility of the Data Loading feature enables users to enter asset information efficiently based on their particular needs.

Database Repository

With the Data Navigation feature of Asset Point's Database Repository, you may add, edit, search for and review asset information. Assets are grouped into tables according to your corporate standards. The Database Repository will track an unlimited number of assets, as well as anything you wish to deem an asset. This flexible structure allows for practical application of Asset Point in departments beyond IT, such as facilities with furniture.

Finance

The Finance Module tracks purchase price and depreciation expense, and reports on current depreciation expense and standing. You can allocate depreciation expense to multiple departments for each record, and change the life of assets by equipment type, even if depreciation expense has already accrued. Finally, the Finance module projects future depreciation expense and features multiple Financial Reports.

Graphical User Interface

Asset Point offers an optional interface to Visio or other graphical packages. This feature allows users to visually manage their asset information via this CAD-based application. The graphical component gives you visual perspective on where your assets are located within your office floorplan, with valuable Asset Point data only a right mouse click away.

Power Usage

This module tracks the amount of power used by each asset, or by a predetermined group of assets. The power information can be tracked by Start-Up Load, Heat Created, Usage Phase, Connector ID, PDU Number and Breaker.

Reports

Asset Point's reporting options include:

1. Custom Reports
2. Location Reports
3. Standard Reports
4. Financial Reports
5. Utilities/Scanning Report
