Our client, one of the world’s leading resources of commercial information and insight on businesses, was in need of a telephony makeover — its global commercial database contains more than 140 million business records.They had to upgrade telecom control initiatives, call center strategy, voice platform and video conferencing applications (across 50 domestic and 30 international locations). Align was engaged to reduce the yearly telecommunications network and maintenance budget.
The client had an inconsistent support structure and expense management system, which led to overspending on telecom. A lack of communication among multiple business units along with disparate legacy telephony platforms across sites contributed to the need to overhaul the system.
Align conducted a thorough inventory including surveys for international sites, physical inventory for larger sites and remote inventory for the smaller sites. We developed a spreadsheet of potential savings and worked with purchasing and carriers to reconfigure, resize or remove unused trunks and ports. We presented our findings and provided alternative solutions — such as wireless data connections for conference rooms — to senior management to facilitate the technology infrastructure upgrades.
