Point-Technical Writer, Plus Documentation,
CBT and Presentations
Asset
Point is the developer of a World Class,
Web-Based Datacenter and IT Asset Management
Software. Asset Point has an immediate
opportunity for a talented and self-motivated
individual.
The
technical writer owns the development of
full product documentation (end-user and
online), training manuals, and CBTs for
the Asset Point Application. They will
also support the creation and maintenance
of presentations, on-line demonstrations,
marketing materials and other work products
supporting the Application. Additional
responsibilities include liaising with
software developers and product managers,
to understand changes in the application
and client needs, determine requirements,
and deliver results.

Duties and Tasks:
- Keep existing technical manuals and
online help files up to date to reflect
latest changes to software products including
screen captures & illustrations.
- Write and edit manuals and help files
using FrameMaker and Quadralay WebWorks
Publisher, RoboHelp.
- Create and maintain Training Guides
and Computer Based Training (CBT) Modules
using FrameMaker and Macromedia Authorware
and Flash
- Interview and interact with software
developers and translate their information
into user friendly language.
- Interface daily with engineers, developers,
management and field personnel to support
changes and client needs
- Create graphical representations of
software functions.
- Act as communications specialist—wearing
many hats at times—for software
development team.
- Any and all additional or alternative
responsibilities, as required
Qualifications / Experience:
- 5+ years in a technical writer/application
documentation environment.
- Superior knowledge and skills for concise
writing skills, document formatting,
information transfer and technical web
usability design.
- Strong knowledge of creative and visual
design concepts as relates to documentation,
CBTs and on-line help and demos.
- Good leadership and management skills
with the ability to motivate self and
others.
- Excellent written and verbal communication
skills with ability to solve problems
in a team environment.
- Solid project management skills in
a development environment with proven
success meeting deadlines and managing
multiple priorities.
Educational Requirements:
- Bachelor’s Degree in visual design
with concentration or special focus on
information architecture or usability
desired or Bachelor’s degree in
Computer Science with special emphasis
or minor in visual or design.
- Masters Degree in Design or Computer
Science desirable.
